FREE New Testament Scripture Reading Chart!

2019 is a very exciting for many of us in the Church! We have been challenged by our Prophet and leaders of the Church to be a home-centered, church supported people. To some, this won't be a big change because you've already been having daily scripture study and gospel teaching in your home. For others, this will be a big adjustment and will need some extra help and encouragement along the way!

As a team, we prayed and fasted to know what we can do to help others in the Church to teach their families at home. For many years now, we have created lesson packets for Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and Youth Sunday School teachers each week. Our goal is to help the teachers be able to focus on preparing themselves spiritually to teach and less time searching on Pinterest or trying to create handouts and worksheets themselves! We decided that we need to continue offering this same type of service to families so you can spend more time in the scriptures and less time trying to find activities to keep your kiddos engaged and excited to learn! We are in no way trying to tell you how you should teach your family - this is personal to each family and should be guided by the Spirit. We are just here to give you a few activities that you can use and daily devotional ideas that follow right along with the manual. These are the same things that we will be doing within our own homes and will most likely change and adapt as the year goes on and we all learn right along with your families!

As we prayed about this, something kept coming back to me: include the new Home and Family Subscription with your current subscriptions! What does this mean?! It means that if you have a subscription for Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, or Youth Sunday School, then you will also have full access to our Home and Family Subscription at no extra cost! Our weekly Home and Family printable packets will include:

• 7 Day lesson plan: One day will include a longer lesson that will take about 30 minutes. The other 6 days will include 5-10 minute "devotionals." As a family, you can choose the day you'd like the longer lesson (Sunday would be a great day for this!) Then choose to have the daily devotionals in the morning or evening. Maybe you have it during breakfast or at the dinner table - whatever works best for your family! If you are busy and have to miss a day or two, don't stress about it. These are just suggestions and you can combine them or just move onto the next one.
• Activities and Printables: Included in the lesson plan will be coloring pages, cut and color activities, object lessons, links to videos, question cards, etc. We will give suggestions for older and younger children so you can use what works best for your family. My children range in ages of 8-19, so I am very familiar with trying to teach doctrine to teenagers while also trying to keep little ones entertained! 

 

I really loved what President Nelson promised us this past conference:

 

"I promise that as you diligently work to remodel your home into a center of gospel learning, over time your Sabbath days will truly be a delight. Your children will be excited to learn and to live the Savior's teachings. And the influence of the adversary in your life and in your home will decrease. Changes in your family will be dramatic and sustaining."  

 

 

We encourage you, as parents, to read the suggested scriptures each week ahead of your family. This will help you be prepared to guide the devotionals and be ready for questions that are asked. The manual the church is providing to each family is truly wonderful and will help you tremendously in teaching your family!
